Gareth Pugh's period mish mash
October 1st 2008 05:11
I don't know how I missed this one.
I'd never heard of British designer Gareth Pugh (pronounced "Pew") until today, but I don't think I'll forget his Spring 09 collection in a hurry.
A cross between triangulated storm-troopers and Elizabethian London (there's two phrases you never think you'll see together), these clothes are so big and bulky, so fringed, tiled and layered that I don't know how the models maintained their composure in the midst of their catwalk stalk.

Mind you, a few of the models looked like they were having trouble even stalking - platform shoes and restrictive clothing that throws your balance and limits your peripheral vision is not a good mix.
Pugh likes to play with different materials, shapes and patterns, as you can see from his previous collections:
I'm just not entirely sure where you wear them....

You're right, great minds do think alike! Why would a designer waste money on something so insane? You were much kinder to him than I was.
