Gucci Gucci Gumboots

I don't believe it: Gucci does gumboots. I was having a look at their online shoe catalogue, wondering why - after years of trying to feminise our feet as much as possible with pedicures and nail polish - women are so preoccupied with strapping their feet into platformed gladiator-esque monstrosities this season. Feminine feet wrapped and tied with a thick, black leather, studded bow.
Anyway, while perusing, I came across these beauties and had to stifle a laugh. Part of the fall/winter 2009 collection, the 'Prato' boots come in a range of colours, but I think the white would be my favourite, simply because it is the most impractical colour imaginable for a shoe originally designed to withstand muddy puddles.
Note: I'm not entirely sure that the above image is kosher. In the pictures in the Gucci catalogue, the ivory boots are lined with ivory fluff, not black. Buyers beware.
The website selling the boots above is charging US$399, another site - which has only the black variety - is charging $453. Prices aren't listed in the Gucci catalogue - which generally means they are hefty. As they say: "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."
