How to wear a white shirt
April 8th 2009 06:18
Was down at cheap clothing Mecca - also known as Savers in Brunswick - on the weekend, and turned up a few more fabulous bargains: a strapless, apricot-coloured Kookai dress for $10, a fitted black Portmans dress for $15, and - the buy of the day - a brand-spanking-new Polo Ralph Lauren fitted white shirt.... for $10. If I could put the caps lock on numbers, I would.
Fashion mags are always going on about how a classy white shirt should be a staple in every girl's closet - they look great with jeans, skirts, classy shorts, etc. But don't be thinking that just because its got buttons you have to do them up - one uber-cool miss on the Pakenham line this morning had her shirt open over a charcoal grey tank and skinny leg jeans with angle boots. Teamed with aviator sunnies, she looked effortlessly cool.
If you do need some ideas for wearing the shirt, The Daily Telegraph (UK) website has a fantastic "how to" guide, that breaks it down into age groups. How to wear it in your 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's, and always look classy.
