Lists Are Our Friends

About twenty or so years ago, a book of lists was published. Yes, that was the name: The Book of Lists. If I'm not mistaken, it made it into the bestsellers' list and I think a sequel was published with as much success. It was a terrific marketing strategy.
How many books of lists do you think you could fill? Well, maybe you don't keep lists at all and can very well live without them. Frankly, I can't imagine any such creature because lists have become so much a part of my life that I'd be lost without them.
I look at lists as being organizational tools for the unorganized, as stepping stones to keeping everything neatly filed in its place, as a dream that someday there will only be one thing on it.
So let's see. We have a grocery list for the next shopping trip and one for things we want to pick up when they're put on a special sale. Another for stuff for around the house, one for garden supplies, and we can't forget things for the car.
To Do lists are very chic right now. Here, too, we have variety. Today's to do, and things to start soon, as well as the list of projects that might or might not get finished.
The most obsessive I've ever gotten was when I listed the contents of my kitchen cupboards. I should have had therapy after that one.
Do you have any oddball lists you want to share?
