Falling for Prada
September 24th 2008 00:28
Poor models. Sometimes I really think designers have it in for them.
First, they're zipped into creations so tight that taking a decent step is impossible. But then they're strapped into skyscraper stilettos, and expected to just glide down a runway with effortless poise.
And oh how we plebs chuckle when they stuff it up.
Take a look at this video of the Prada show at Milan Fashion Week that was posted on the New York Times blog, The Moment here
Poor little Miss Gold Lame tries desperately to maintain her balance, but in the end gives up and feebly totters off the runway. I can't help feeling a little sorry for her.
Then there's this one...
I'm not sure if she actually bit the dust or not, but she still looks remarkably calm. Nothing like how I'd imagine myself in the same situation (face aghast, arms flailing).
But when you're paid thousands of dollars to strut down a walkway a few times over a 40 minute spread, I expect you don't really care too much.
